    Scope
The contractor shall furnish and install a complete isolated power system as indicated on the plans and specified herein.

    Codes and Standards
The isolated power system shall be designed and installed in accordance with the latest edition of the following codes and standards:

    • NFPA 99 "Health Care Facilities"
    • NFPA 70 "National Electrical Code"
    • UL Standard 1047 "Isolated Power System Distribution Equipment"
    • UL Standard 1022 "Line Isolation Monitors"
    Dual Voltage Isolated Power Panel
The Dual Voltage Isolated Power Panel shall be PG LIFELINK Model XTLD and the panel shall be UL listed under Standard 1047 and shall incorporate the following features and components:
    1. Enclosure shall be a three-piece assembly consisting of back box, chassis and front trim. The back box shall be fabricated of galvanized steel in accordance with UL Standard 50, "Standard for Cabinets and Boxes" and shall be flush mounted, unless indicated otherwise, at the elevation shown on the plans. All internal electrical components shall be mounted on a galvanized steel chassis which bolts onto studs located in the back box. The front trim shall be made of 12-gauge stainless steel polished to a #4 satin finish and shall include a lockable door over the circuit breakers.

    2. Isolation Transformer shall be single phase, 60 Hz. The Primary KVA is determined by adding the sum of the two secondary KVA ratings. The primary shall be ________ KVA (specify 10, 15, 17-1/2, 20, 22-1/2 or 25) ________ with volt primary (specify 208, 220,240, 277, or 480). The first secondary winding will be ________ KVA with ________ volt (specify 208, 220 or 240) and the second secondary will be ________ KVA with 120 volt. The transformer shall be of stacked core design with an electrostatic shield between the primary and secondary windings. The maximum allowable transformer leakage will be per UL 1047 Table 30.2.

    3. Line Isolation Monitors shall be the PG LIFELINK Mark IV self-testing and self-calibrating microprocessor controlled LIM. They shall continuously monitor the impedence from each secondary conductor to ground without the use of switching circuitry and shall display the total hazard current of the separate secondary voltage systems on the ammeters. The LIMs shall be capable of detecting all combinations of resistive and capacitive faults whether they are balanced, unbalanced or hybrid. The LIMs shall not contribute more than 25 microamperes to the total hazard current of the system.

The LIMs shall alarm when the total hazard current (THC) reaches a value of 5 milliamperes (Ma). When the THC is less than 5 Ma, a green light shall be illuminated indicating normal conditions. Should the THC reach 5 Ma, a red light shall illuminate and a buzzer shall sound indicating an alarm. A silence switch shall be provided to quiet the buzzer while leaving the red light on. When the LIM has been silenced, a yellow light will remain on while in a fault condition. The LIMs shall automatically reset to normal status when the fault condition is corrected.

The LIMs shall also detect and signal an alarm if the ground connections to the LIMs are broken. A momentary test switch shall be provided for periodic testing of the LIM circuitry.

The LIMs shall be flush mounted on the front of the panel so that the LIM signals are clearly visible at all times. The LIM signals must not be obscured when the circuit breaker door is open.

The LIM shall be recognized under UL Standard 1022.

    4. Primary main circuit breaker 14,000 AIC shall be provided. Secondary main circuit breakers shall be provided.

    5. Branch circuit breakers shall be ________ amp, (specify) two pole, quantity ________ (specify quantity, maximum of 2 circuit breakers on the 208v, 220v, or 240v side), and 20 amp, two pole, quantity ________ (specify quantity, maximum of 15 branch breakers for 120 volt winding). Only Bolt On Breakers will be considered.

    6. Reference ground bus having 24 branch taps for #12 to #6 wires shall be provided.
    Options
    1. Laser/X-ray receptacle (two receptacles maximum) shall be mounted to the stainless steel faceplate of the XTLD panel. The receptacle shall be a ________ amp (specify), Nema Type ________ receptacle.

    2. Power receptacles shall be provided on the front of the panel. Receptacles to be 20 amp, 120 volt, type ________ (specify 8300-R duplex, 3000HG twist lock, or 8310 single parallel blade), quantity ________ (specify, 6 maximum).

    3. Ground jacks shall be provided on the front of the panel. Jacks to be Hampden SLR-3S, quantity ________ (specify, 6 maximum).
    Wiring
All components within the isolation panel shall be pre-wired using low leakage type XHHW wire. A barriered compartment shall be provided for the incoming primary feeder and separation shall be maintained between grounded and ungrounded conductors. A terminal block shall be provided for connection of remote signal conductors.

All Branch Circuit Conductors of the isolated power system shall be stranded copper having a cross-linked polyethylene insulation, or equivalent with a dielectric constant of 3.5 or less. Type XHHW is suitable for this purpose. Each branch circuit conductor shall be color-coded in accordance with National Electrical Code. Wire pulling compound produces an adverse effect upon the dielectric constant of conductor insulation and shall not be used when pulling the wire of the isolated power system. Use of dry talcum powder is permitted.

    Accessories
The following accessories are part of the isolated power system and are to be furnished where indicated on the plans.

Laser Outlet (X-Ray Outlet) Module shall be Model CLO (CXO). The module shall have a ________ amp (specify), Nema Type ________ receptacle mounted in an angular recessed compartment. A door over the recessed compartment shall conceal the receptacle when not in use. The front trim shall be made of stainless steel polished to a #4 satin finish. The remote LIM signals consisting of green and red indication lights, warning buzzer and silence shall be incorporated into the front trim. (This module to be specified with the XTLD panel is located outside the room).

Laser Outlet (X-Ray Outlet) Module shall be Model LO (XO). The module shall have a ________ amp (specify), Nema Type ________ receptacle mounted in an angular recessed compartment. A door over the recessed compartment shall conceal the receptacle when not in use. The front trim shall be made of stainless steel polished #4 satin finish. (This module to be specified when the XTLD panel is located in the room)

    Test and Certification
Upon completion of the installation, a qualified factory technician shall inspect and test the equipment to verify that it is properly installed and operating as specified. A field test report and written certification that the system was installed and operating properly shall be furnished. The factory technician shall also instruct the hospital personnel in the proper use and maintenance of the equipment.

    Approved Manufacturers
This specification is based on equipment manufactured by PG LIFELINK. Products of other manufacturers will be considered provided they are equal in all respects and request for approval is submitted in writing to the engineer at least 10 days prior to the bid date.
